Lori Hogeman, LISW-CP
A child and adolescent specialist in Psychotherapy, now practicing in Charleston, I have been working with children, adolescents, adults and families for over 30 years, both in traditional psychotherapy and DBT. I have extensive experience using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) in my clinical work in residential treatment and outpatient settings. I specialize in treatment of mood lability, anxiety, depression, non-suicidal self-injurious behaviors and suicidal behaviors.
My goals in psychotherapy treatment are to help individuals learn healthy and adaptive coping strategies and skills and build a “Life Worth Living”. I am proficient in the adherent protocol of DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and have received intensive training in DBT through Behavioral Tech (the original program created by Marsha Linehan). I have also completed training in Prolonged Exposure-DBT for trauma (DBT-PE), protocol adapted for children (DBT-C) and Level One and Two of Theraplay® and Group Theraplay®. I have participated in DBT consultation and have supervised clinicians who wish to enhance their adherence to the treatment model.
I am passionate about DBT education and the effective practice of DBT as a modality of treatment. I also have extensive experience in traditional psychotherapy with children, adolescents and adults. I recently moved to Charleston from Atlanta where I practiced 36 years with clients who are working to improve their ability to handle emotions and live a more balanced life.
